UIL News Story

Students are outraged at the addition of a physical education requirement.
According to the new rule, every student in Leaguetown ISD has to have two semesters of physical education to earn his or her diploma.
Even seniors will be forced into taking the class.
“This is going to be hard,” said Becky Gordan, a junior, “I may have to take summer classes to be able to fit in those physical education classes.”
Another part of the requirement that’s being criticized is the fact that there are no exceptions.
“My kids get a good workout every day,” said football coach Barry Switzerland,” “football should be exempt.” However, school board president Arnold Schlister had a different view on the matter, “those kids may be getting enough exercise, but since they do those activities, they are leaders of the school and should set an example to others.”
